Diesel Technology of Chattanooga is owned and operated by Jonathan Ryan aka Swamp or Swamp Donkey, co-founder and head of R&D at Swamp's Diesel Performance from 2003 to 2018. Among other projects there, he completely reverse engineered the circuit boards for the 7.3 IDM, 7.3 PCM, and the 6.0 FICM, invented the Swamp's HVHF IDM (Hi-Voltage Hi-Frequency) and the Heavy Duty 58 Volt FICM, also called a Cold Weather FICM or Winter FICM or whatever other names other companies have come up with to try and distinguish their products ;) He also laid the foundation for all of Swamp's custom tuning on 7.3 Powerstrokes and tuning the 1999 and newer trucks to run single-shot injectors, designed the dyno test cell, ran the engine dyno and did all the dyno tuning and testing.

Due to current core shortages, we are requiring cores for the DPC-203,DPC-311, DPC-432, DPC-452, DPC-492, DPC-461 to be sent in first for rebuild.

We require that you send back a like for like core.

The main cause of PCM failure continues to be people pulling out their chips with the key on / engine running, which almost always fries the microprocessor and the chip. Occasionally it's the EEPROM that can fail.

3 Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty!

There is a 3 year warranty on all 7.3 Power Stroke PCM's...but only if you send your old/core PCM back!

All PCM's are shipped fully programmed and ready to install. The 7.3 did not come with the VIN programmed in from the factory, and the odometer mileage reading is stored in the instrument cluster, not the PCM. Make sure the DPC-xxx number on your new PCM is the same as the number on your old PCM, but don't worry if the PCM Box Code / Tear Tag are different. Also, there is no PCM “relearn” period on the 7.3 diesels.

If you have purchased a rebuilt Excursion PCM, and it says “PATS DISABLED” on the cover, you will need to unplug the PATS module, a black box with a green plug located about 8” above the accelerator pedal, so the Theft light on the dash doesn't flash. None of this has any effect on the key fobs or door lock / unlock functionality.

If you use a Hydra chip, you will need to use California F-Series pickup programs on it, which do not have PATS enabled. Power Hungry's Excursion tunes do have PATS enabled, and the vehicle will not start even if PATS has been disabled in the PCM. Email us if you're not sure which tunes to select.

You do not need to disconnect the batteries when installing or removing the PCM, but do make sure the key is out of the ignition. All PCM's are shipped with the chip terminals cleaned and re-soldered; no further cleaning is necessary.

If you use a performance chip, after installing it in the PCM, please wrap a strip of duct tape around the PCM and chip so it can't come loose, and zip tie the chip cable out of the way where it can't get snagged by your foot.

* If your truck is a 1996 with a DPC-202, and the PCM Code (Tear Tag) is MIFx, or it has AB split-shot injectors in it, it is a CA model, and will need the correct flash on it due to the injectors. The DPC-202 hardware is the same for all OBS trucks; its just that the CA models with split-shots get special tuning.

**  *** Trucks with the Super Duty body style built before 12-06-1998  are usually early-99's, and ones built after this date are late-99's, also called 1999.5's.

The core charge will be refunded when we receive your old PCM (core) back
